Dawn sky this morning; not too dramatic, but a clear autumn sky.

7.30am today; small patches of clear sky in the east, so some sunshine this morning.

Mornings are gradually getting nippier. Not long until our first frost and then watch the leaves change as the chlorophyll turns into sugar.

Grey and bland this morning; no pic; here's one from yesterday evening with the wind hurrying clouds over Barlick.

First thing this morning the sky was crystal clear but there were some very unusual thin, high clouds in bands across the sky but not thick enough to obscure the stars. Can't remember ever seeing them before.

These may have been the clouds Stanley saw earlier; pictured before the sun cleared hills to the east.

That looks about right David. I couldn't see them clearly in the dark with no moon. Any idea what they are called?
Have a look at this LINK for a description of noctilucent clouds. I heard them mentioned yesterday and at first I thought that they might have been what I saw but on reading the article I don't think so. They are evidently quite rare.

This is a cheat as a 'Bank Edge View', as it was taken on the road outside; but the alternative is another sunrise picture from this morning...

The mound on which Bank House stood is being grubbed up and, together with rubble tipped on the site in the 1960s, is being sorted in a machine to separate bricks etc from soil.

View of Waddington Fell this afternoon with drumlins in the middle distance.

Rolls-Royce Bankfield and sewage works partly hidden by trees in the foreground.
