I heard that! Pardon?
It amused all of us yesterday when we were discussing Bank Holidays down the pub; someone asked when Mayday was, you know the May 1st Bank Holiday. I had the diary but no glasses, bespectacled Steve in Norfolk had the glasses (but possibly not the hearing aid). He checked, "Thursday" he said. Roars of laughter erupted.

Another last night during University Challenge. The question was to do with non-enzymic browning, I'd been waiting for this one! "Maillard" I answered; no nod of approval from the history buff Steve. Turns out that for some reason best known to himself he thought I'd shouted my ar*e!
