If anyone doesn't know how to access the archived site and find the banner, this is the page that you would get by following Stanley's advice:

I was prompted to post the link above after looking for the LTP myself yesterday. A friend in Ireland has written to say she is taking a course on recording oral history and so I sent her the link and suggested she read through some of the LTP transcriptions and look at other pages on the site. Also that she would enjoy reading `Stanley Graham's Story' on the site! Her husband, an well-experienced long-distance lorry driver, lost his job in the Irish recession (which was far worse than here) and is presently working in the stores of a printing company on a `work initiative'. They are hoping he might get kept on when it ends in May. She was a reporter on the local newspaper but her hours were cut and then the job went altogether. She lives in a village and can't find any other work now so the course is initially to provide some occupation, but it's all experience and perhaps it will help her find a job again.

Tiz, the one thing I never had to worry about even during the hardest days on low wages and long hours was job security. I often think that this is the main difference between then and now and I feel so sorry for today's workers.

I went down there in the early days and assessed the site for them. It was a good trip and I think they took note of what I said. Happy days!

I think it should be noted here that we have now launched a completely updated and revised version of the LTP. This new revision includes expanded transcripts and a major upgrade of all the images embedded within the texts.

The revised version of Lancashire Textile Project 2013 can be accessed directly on this site from the index page or via the link below.

The Lancashire Textile Project 2013

There is a new comment section associated with the LTP2013 and a new download section that is currently under development which will shortly offer various options for downloading the transcripts (in various formats) and the image folios. Users will also be able to download the entire revised project as a single zip file.

If anyone has any queries or comments can they please post them in the new comment section which can be found here:
