Census reports James Duckworth as ‘sawyer’ of Salterforth born Lothersdale. Wife Mary, 25, born Salterforth. Mary Elizabeth,3 years, Ann, 2 and John 3 months. I think this was at Stoops House which was halfway up Salterforth Lane and has been demolished and a bungalow built in its place.

Atkinson, in his Old Barlick reports that The Engine public house, later the Railway, was owned by Hartley Robinson whose wife was the daughter of David Duckworth.

David Duckworth, 72, Barnoldswick Village Farm House. Farmer of 22 acres, born Lothersdale. Address in 1841 and 1848 was New Laithe.

Barrett’s directory mentions John Duckworth, farmer of Skipton Road, Barnoldswick. Same directory notes John Duckworth as farmer of West Close, Edge House and Whitemoor. 1902 Barrett says farmer of Edge House and Wellhouse.

Barrett directory notes John Duckworth as cattle dealer of Wellhouse. Elector of Barnoldswick in 1859, address given as Smythes Bridge, Gisburn. Barrett for 1896 reports him as farming Edge House, Wellhouse Farm and Aynhams.

Barrett for 1896 records Robert Duckworth as being a butcher at 4 Newtown, Barnoldswick.

Barrett reports William Duckworth as being farmer at West Close. 1902 Barrett notes W. B. Duckworth as farmer at West Close. Qualified to act as director of the Calf Hall Shed Company in July 1901 statement of accounts.

LTP; 78/AK/02, page 11. Emma Clarke said that Her sister Grace [b. 1887] had a young man called Nelson Duckworth who was connected with New Coates Mill and lived on Mitchell Terrace. His daughter Lillian died in 1977 a spinster.

Craven Herald, 04/07/1930. Report of the death of Annice Duckworth (68) at Morecambe. She and her husband occupied West Close Farm and later had a dairy business in Beech Street. They retired from farming in 19117 and went to Morecambe.

1935
CH 24/05/1935. In an article about Dotcliffe Mill says that J J Duckworth of Nelson bought the mill around 1915. J J lived at Elslack Hall.
