HOWARTH INDEX ENTRIES AS OF 04 February 2005

1700
In ‘History of the Baptist Church in Barnoldswick’ it is recorded that the first minister, David Crosley left in 1695 and for five years there was no minister. The church then called one of its own members, James Howarth, to be Pastor.

c.1830
William Howarth was a stonemason and builder in Colne. He and Harry Holt built the chimney at Higherford Mill in 1832.

1841 Census.
Mary Howarth, 50, is noted as a servant in Brogden. William Howarth, 15, is farm labourer.

1851 Census.
James Howarth of Stock, Bracewell, 54 years old, farmer of 155 acres and builder.

1871 Census
George Howarth was innkeeper at Cross Keys Inn, 37 years old. Innkeeper and farmer of 6 acres.

1891 Census
Robert Howarth, 26, is noted as living at Coolham, Kelbrook.

1881 Census.
Coolham, Thornton In Craven.
Moses HOWARTH Head, 25, Occ: Carter, born Thornton in Craven.
Jane HOWARTH, wife, 21, born Earby, Cotton Weaver
Smith HOWARTH, son, 2 years.
