A Robert Higson was a tackler at Old Shed, on the New Road, in 1875. It was run by the Bracewell Brothers and was the first steam driven shed in Earby.

Robert Higson, 43, Earby, White Lion Street. Mary, 41. Albert Gibson, 17. Mary A, 12. Sarah. J, 11. Rose, 7. Elizabeth A., 4. In 1891 Robert, 53, is at Prospect View, Earby together with Mary, 51. Mary A., 22. Sarah J., 21. Rose, 17. Elizabeth A., 14. Albert was at Green End Row with other Higsons, see below, aged 27.

John Higson, 65 was at Riley Street in Earby. Mary Higson, 65. William Higson, 25. Alice, 22. Elizabeth E., 19, no entry in 1891. John Higson, 17. In 1891 John was at Green End Row aged 76. No entry for Mary. William, 36, was at Waterloo Road, Kelbrook with Margaret Higson, 37. John, 26 was at Green End Row. Sarah, 23. Alice, 31 was at Green End Row. In 1891 there is an Alice aged 1 Thomas aged 6 and Mary aged 4 at Green End Row.

1881. John Higson, 23, Back Prospect Terrace, Earby. Ellen, 22, wife(?). Robert, 2. Mary, 1. These were all at Prospect Terrace in 1891 plus George, 9. Alice, 7. Laura, 5. Edith, 2.

In 1891 there is an Edward Higson, 49 at the Grey Stone Inn, Admergill with Mariam, 49, wife(?) and Albert A aged 14.

1881. James Higson, 36 at Chapel Street, Earby. Alice Higson, 33. Mary, 13. Susan, 10. Louisa, 6. Mary, 4. There is no entry for any of these in the 1891 census for Barlick and Thornton.

1881. Christopher Higson, 46, Kelbrook Village (Vicarage Road?). Ellen, 46 wife(?). Jane, 63. All are at Vicarage Road in 1891 plus Susannah, aged 35.

1881. Thomas Higson, 69, Wesley Street Earby. No entry in 1891. Jane Higson, 30 at same address, in 1891 she is noted as in Wesley Place.
