POLLARD INDEX ENTRIES AS OF 21 September 2008
1753
James Pollard paid land tax of 3/10 in 1753 and in 1760 7/4. Could have been for Mill Close.
1753
John Pollard paid land tax of ¾. In 1760 paid 4/-. Another entry for John Pollard for 1753 is 1/8 for what looks like ‘Heys’. In 1756 he paid 9/4 for the same holding.

John Pollard pays land tax on an unspecified holding of 7/- in 1753. In 1756/57/60 pays 14/-.
1753
John Pollard pays land tax on an unspecified holding of 2/6. In 1756/57 and 1760 he pays 5/- tax for the same holding but it is noted as ‘Late Driver’ for first two years and ‘late Heaton’ for last year.
1851 census
William Pollard of Wapping, 46, labourer. Grace wife, 44. Jane, daughter 10. Ann, niece, 22, PLW cotton. Isabella, 4 months.
1871 census
Thomas Pollard of Coverdale at Brogden, 45 years, farmer of 111 acres. Employed 1 boy.

John Pollard noted as elector of Salterforth.

J Pollard of Nelson mentioned as plasterers in the contract to build Long Ing Shed.

Mrs Elizabeth Pollard, stationer at 21 Church Street. Same entry in 1896/1902.

Bill Pollard was a weaver at Long Ing Shed nicknames ‘Jim Dux’.
1906
In 1906 Alfred Pollard was headmaster of Barnoldswick CofE school on York Street. Barrett 1896 and 1902 both have him at York Street. House at 6 Shaw Terrace in 1902.
1935…..
Jim Pollard worked at Bancroft Shed finishing up as manager at closure.
1965/1967
Colin Pollard member of BUDC 1965 to 1967.

1970s
George Pollard of 4 Earl Street, Burnley. Mill furnishers to Bancroft Shed until closure.
