VIENNA REGULATOR CLOCKS

C.1880, German, H. Endler & Co., Vienna Regulator, carved oak case with canted corners, single weight timepiece.   Condition:  the well carved oak case was refinished some time ago, to a warm honey color.  All of the finials and moldings on this clock have extra nice 3-dimensional detail.  The well made single weight movement has maintaining power, a brass slide mount and a prominent imprint in the rear plate, "H-E Schutz Marke", in a horse-shoe shape.  The company was in Freiburg, 1865 to 1890, an affiliate of Gustav Becker, and the movement is identical to a Becker of the same period.  The porcelain dial is perfect, and with original hands and seconds bit.  About as impressive as an oak Vienna can get.  Ht 52"   $1500--$2000

This clock is an 8-day time and strike [hour and half-hour] weight driven Vienna Regulator with seconds bit. The mark on the movement indicates that it was made by H. Endler & Co., one of the so-called Freiburger regulator factories. H. Endler Co. was founded in 1865 and went bankrupt in 1890, so I assume that this clock was made during that period. More recent dates on the back of the dial are likely dates when the clock was serviced.
