That's good news Ian. My relative who caught it while in the hospital for a different medical reason is back in her flat and seems OK but tired and has had only mild symptoms - not bad for someone in her 80s. I heard something on the radio about a woman aged, I think, 99 who has had covid but is back home and living an active life again.
I was one of the people who emailed them asking where people are getting covid-19.
I think the people shielding who got infected would be mostly due to getting it from carers (professional or family). And, yes, the supermarket question didn't get a clear answer. As they pointed out, a big problem is that trying to do that level of tracing requires genome analysis and that takes ages and can't be done on large numbers. That's something we've got to correct for the future - develop faster methods - because we can be sure there'll be more pandemics to come.
Correct. I know it's not a pleasant comparison but it's like sexual abuse of children. Everybody thinks it occurs away from home but most cases arise within the home.
Good grief, China! I hope the Chinese `watchers' don't read OGFB or you be getting a visit during the night! Even I don't think it came `via Wuhan Institute of Virology'. That institute exists at Wuhan to research the danger of virus transfer from animals to humans because of the wet markets etc. Before the travel restrictions British colleagues visited and had been collaborating with the Wuhan scientists for many years.
Yes, they use the excuse that American soldiers visited Wuhan late in 2019 LINK and brought the virus with them and that's where it started. If it had then the pandemic would have been months earlier, especially in America.
