I have just finished veggie cooking. I'm waiting for the hob to cool so I can make sure it's spotless! Always nice when the bulk of the veggies are cooked and ready to eat. All I have now are the usual extenders I shall cook when it suits me. :biggrin2:

I finished the valve rod clevis this morning. I know it looks like overkill using a slitting saw to cut the slot in the clevis but it's the only way I know whereby I can get an accurate cut. My eyes aren't up to doing it by hand. This way I get a perfect 1/8" wide slot cut to the right depth and in the right place. That's the object of the exercise! Now for breakfast.

Morning

It was 5.00 pm when we got back from Wendys after a lovely lunch with our wine group. Little else was done for the rest of the evening apart from unpacking a Tesco delivery.

This morning we are off to Haslingden market to pick up a meat order from Ray, the butcher . We have no other plans for the day, it mainly depends on the weather. Have a good day all

Morning Sue. Much the same story here.... The weather isn't very inviting, (could it possibly be the Easter holiday?) and I shall be focussed more on keeping warm and well fed than 'enjoying' the holiday. Not very adventurous I know....

I started the morning by sorting out the non-ferocious parts that I have to make. Some are rough castings so I fettled some of them while I decided where to go next. I decided to make the bearing brasses for the flywheel so I rough ground the top brasses and started to mill the bottom brasses to size. I took my time, and a good job too because I got one of the measurements wrong. I find I do that these days and have to keep checking myself. Luckily no errors yet! Now for breakfast.

Morning

Yesterday turned out better than expected. After the market we went to B&Q in Bury and bought some potting compost for my seedlings when they appear and paint to decorate the kitchen. We are sticking to the same colour scheme but it badly needs freshening up. The kitchen is a dining kitchen so we spend a lot of time in there and certainly by the backdoor where we go in and out into the conservatory and back garden its all looking very shabby.

In the afternoon I did the ironing and then we had a short walk to the post office to return a pair of shoes I had bought and Bob had some engineering stuff to post. By then it was pleasant to walk. When we got back home Bob did a bit of a repair with rust removal on one kitchen radiator so now its over to me .

Todays task is for me to wash down walls and gloss paint as far as I can reach whilst Bob is on Easter Sunday little train duty. It promises to be busy with a good weather forecast. I hope to get some gloss painted but with other things to do it may have to wait a couple of days. Have a good day all.

Snap, my kids redecorated my kitchen last week! Everything looks cleaner and brighter now.
I am back up after second sleep and enjoying a hot drink. I have a load of washing in and am cooking savoury cabbage and onion for an extender. I like extenders, they are cheap grub and very easy to do. Doesn't feel like a big job and it's always something that can be cooked early in the day.
Only now is the day looking like brightening up! Very slow to come out....

Morning

Yesterday I also put away my thicker winter jumpers and sorted out my t shirts and summer clothes. We are off to France in a couple of weeks so will need them there, if it ever stops raining there as they are back into a wet spell with temperatures not much different than here. Talking of France Laetitia's move has fallen through but their present landlord has already relet their place. They have a month to find somewhere to live. Meanwhile Laetitia is seeking legal help over the new landlord letting them down with only days to their move. Its all very complicated and too difficult to explain here but I think they were in effect scammed. The agreement was if they did the new place up they could have it at a reduced rent with a view to buy in the future. Now it is all finished the landlord has decided not to rent it out. They can do without this!

I also managed to wash all the paint work down in the kitchen apart from the ceiling and the highest parts above the cupboards which needed the longer ladder that was in the garage. Bob will do that when he paints the ceiling. This morning I hope to get some gloss paint done but I don’t have a lot of time as we are at Wendy and Keiths for lunch at 1.00 pm. Have a good day all

Morning Sue, Laetitia's move sounds like a nightmare and as you say has all the hallmarks of a scam. I hope she finds a way out.
I am still in my thickest winter shirts and will stay in them until it really warms up! I'd rather perspire than shiver.
I am off to bed now for second sleep...
I hope you have a productive morning.....

This morning I refined the finish on the two bottom brasses and fitted them to the bed. I put witness marks on the brasses so that their orientation can be preserved. Then I refined the finish on the flanks of the webs of the crankshaft to make sure they were both the same thickness and that the overall width fitted inside the flanks of the installed brasses. Then I put the normal cutter back in the VM and vacuumed up the chips. Now I want my breakfast.

PS. I changed my mind about the pork belly....

OK so far Kev and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Its nice and warm in the tunnel during the day, but the temperature drops at night. I put it into a bigger pot, staked it and gave it some feed. If there is a cold night forecast I can wrap it in bubble wrap!

Morning

I too am still in warm clothes Stanley but have changed from thick jumpers to thinner shirts plus cardigans. I note that France is heading for 23 degrees in 10 days and our forecast is heading up to the mid to high teens. As we keep all our lighter weight clothes in suitcases in the loft it is necessary to do a bit of swapping around of clothes. We are off to France on the 6 th and staying for the whole of May but all I have there are really summery clothes so I shall be taking some warmer ones there and leaving them for a few months. I think I brought more back home in September because of our trip to Scotland in early October.

Yesterday i managed a bit of gloss painting in the morning, one radiator , one door frame and two short strips of skirting board. Today I can now move the kitchen table and do the same again, leaving just one doorframe which I may or may not get round to. This morning Ed and Briony are calling on the way to see Eds parents in south Lakes. Ed also buys wood from a woodyard in Heywood and is a calling on the way to see us. Eds hobby is woodwork where he has a rather good talent making things like their new fitted wardrobes as well as more ornate things like mirror surrounds, ornaments and side tables. The woodyard sells a particular type of wood that he likes to work with. He is about to make a new bed frame for their new bedroom. I will start painting when they have gone.

Forecast is dry, with some sun. Have a good day all

Excellent, hopefully it'll thrive. The peppers were quite slow growing, it was several weeks before they went red. I would imagine the newer crop will be bigger as they have more room to grow. New plants look quite easy to grow from seed too.

Yes Sue, It's not really warmed up yet has it. Mind you I am a bad opinion to go by these days as I feel the cold so much more than I used to....
I hope you get your painting done. I keep looking a a bit of gloss I could do in the kitchen but then I come to my senses!
I've shaved my head and shortly will give my feet a spa ready for Robin coming later this morning.
The sun has just come out! That's a good sign....

I've tried a number of times to grow peppers without a lot of success. I don't think the growing season up here is long enough. You would do better on your sunny windowsill.

I managed to keep three pepper plants, well chili plants, growing in the conservatory in pots for three years, producing chilis. Then one summer they suddenly died . I had just transplanted them into bigger pots and I don’t think they liked the move . Hope Mr Pepper likes his new home 😊🫑🫑
