No lightening but heavy rain here in Northumberland about 4.00 am. Its just misty now and a lot warmer than was forecast
Hopefully there's no more lightning today or they won't let them in the water, they're in Windermere for the Great North Swim https://www.greatswim.org/

Oh, Julia usually does that but she has a bad knee at the moment so is not swimming distance. Instead she and Eve are in the Cotswolds where Eve is doing an open water swim

This morning I measured and marked the stud positions on the lid and drilled them clearance size for 4BA studs. Then I measured and marked for the tapped entry for the steam pipe. That is drilled and threaded. I'm multi-tasking this morning, doing a load of washing at the same time as shed duties. That's dealt with, now the task is find breakfast.

Morning

We had a rather damp cool day yesterday, with a mist or rain shower hanging over us all day. We still had a good one though as we drove just a few miles to Heatherslaw, and went on the small railway to Etal. There we investigated the village and the ruined castle ( part of the Flodden estate in 1513)and had lunch in the old pub, dating back to the 1500s. Last visit we went to the site of the battle of Flodden. We then went back on the railway and did a 4 mile walk to the village of Ford. Our feet were soaked through our lightweight walking boots as we we were walking through long wet grass most of the time

Today promises to be better, the sun is shining though it is very windy. This morning will be relaxed before we drive to Framlington where we are having Sunday lunch at a pub . We have yet to plan the afternoon. Have a good day all

Morning Sue! Walking though wet grass is a killer isn't it. The only thing I know that can be relied on to keep your feet dry is Wellingtons!
I had to look Flodden Field up as I know nothing about that period of history. So you are talking about places I have never been to, few and far between in Britain. It sounds like an interesting day. I hope you have as good an experience today.

Morning

Lovely day yesterday, just relaxed. It was a trip to a local garden centre for a browse, then a very nice roast Sunday lunch out, followed by the afternoon in Bamburgh, with a stroll along the beach. One of my favourite places.

Today is due to be warm and sunny. We have to be out of the cottage by 9.30 but then will make our way back to Hadrians Wall to visit a different section. We shall come home slowly with no fixed timing. I have already apologised for my yoga absence. Its been a lovely few days in a very confortable little place. Have a good day all.

Morning Sue! It sounds like a perfect break and you come home to an improving week with better weather. Already, today is a better start than yesterday. I am sat here at my de3sck with my feet in very hot water, soaking them in preparation for my chiropodist Robin coming in an hour..... I hope you have as good a day as I am going to have!

This morning was spent on the bed casting. I wasn't pleased with what I did yesterday as the base of the bed wasn't level so I set it up again in the vise. Sharpened the cutter, brought the head down closer to the job and re-cut the base flat and level. Then I fettled the face and periphery of the target end on the grinding wheel. I am satisfied now, it is much better. Now I can allow myself to have breakfast!

Morning

It was a good drive back via Vindolanda. We were fascinated by the finds in the museum there and amazed at just what is being uncovered. We had a chat to one of the archeologists working on the site. It was well after three when we left, arriving home just after 6.00pm. We unpacked,I put the washer on then we had a late tea of some rather nice burgers bought at Tebay service area .

Today I want to get the worst of the garden tidied, still waiting after our trip to France, then I can plant the rest of my veggies and fuchsias . My strawberries are coming thick and fast and is the best crop for years. This evening is yoga and pilates at the studio. Have a good day all.

This morning I took the vise off the VM bed cleaned it up and then dressed it with a diamond hone to eliminate any dings or roughness. Then I mounted the bed directly on the table and spent a lot of time making sure it was square to the cutter. I dressed the bed where the crosshead will fit and then got set up with a long cutter and made sure I was ready to cut the face of the target end. That all took time so 45 minutes later I have left all that for tomorrow and as a change from my usual habit, I am going to cook a breakfast of two pork burgers and two fried eggs....

Morning

I spent a good few hours in the garden, getting half the front and some of the back tidied. I planted all my fuchsias and remaining veggies. I even did a bit of weed killing on the paths and gravel using simple boiling water, no good for deep rooted plants but fine for small ground cover weeds. I will take another gardening opportunity later in the week.

Today we are visiting Whalley Abbey withe u3a history group, it’s a guided tour preceded by lunch there. This evening is zoom pilates. Today is Eves last GCSE, Further maths. I think there will be celebrations in Coventry tonight. At the weekend she has a big open water swimming Event, then on Monday Julia is taking her to Corfu for a 3 day break. A nice ending to an arduous 6 weeks

It’s due to be 20 degrees today and sunny. Have a good day all

This morning I finished the facing cut across the target end, faced the two lugs for the holding down bolts at the flywheel end of the bed, adjusted the thickness of the horns that contain the pockets for the flyshaft bearings and finally, cut the pockets between the horns for the bearing brasses. Then a chip chase and I shall come back to the bed tomorrow. Right now the project is breakfast!

I have had my walk and a sit in the shade for half an hour on traffic duty. I've called in at the Co-op for my milk, frozen peas and Garlic and have cut up my oranges, onion and pork belly and got that going in the slow cooker. I shall have a rest and then perhaps cook some savoury cabbage, I am in the mood!
