It did Stanley, there is another older photo of the same area, which I posted on here a few years ago, showing what must be our previous car, a Ford Prefecf!

Miracles do happen. One of my Blackburn pals many years ago heard that one of the old green & cream double-decker buses was going to make it's last trip into town so he rushed out and caught it, went upstairs and grabbed a front seat. Years later he found that a photo had been taken of the front of the bus by the local newspaper's reporter as it set off and published in the paper - and there he was in prime position!

They say he was never a reader..... It shows when he speaks on anything without careful briefing....
What attracted my attention today was when Susan accidentally got one of my Stuart No. 9 engines caught up in her cardigan and dragged it off the worktop on to the floor..... I was quite surprised by how serious the damage was. Caused by the fact they are so heavy. Basically it needs a rebuild but what I did was identify the fact that the main damage was a bent crankshaft, I hit it with a hide hammer in the right place and got it to turn over again.
I told Susan we'd leave it like that because it tells a story of what can happen to them.
I admit I was not best pleased but made sure that Susan knew she was forgiven!

That is a feature of the quote function on the site and has always been so, it's not a fault so no need to vex or loose sleep over it.

Just never noticed it before, I think as the feature adds user name of the quotee normally and thus not attached directly to the quote text, when I use it to reference (badly) something from elsewhere I guess it becomes more noticable = changing the background color rather than using quote marks that some other forums use is interesting too

Big bold quote marks....I'd never noticed them before. I went back to look at posts in 2012 and they're the same there. Must be a case of them `hiding in plain' sight!

Getting a new front door installed, modern composite job, red for the use of outside and white on the inside. Our old wooden door was on the house when we bought it and that was around 1988 so probably older than that. New door and frame is in, Alan my joiner has said its down to the faffing about stage now, frame sealing inside and out, locks, door knockers and cat flap fitting.

All sorted three quarters of an hour ago. Bill slightly less than estimate and an excellent job from my joiner Alan. He has also moved the house number from the door to the right hand side door jamb.

Will get back to the bank now to cancel our current cards for out joint account. We noticed three separate erroneous debits on the account all from different Amazon services none of which were done by myself on my card. I rang the bank, sorry store, (Virgin) they told me to contact the supplier so I did.

Amazon can see the transactions and say they were made with my card but from a different account which for security they are not allowed to tell me the account owner! They asked for details of all my family members to make sure that none of those had used my card. I pointed out that Sally has her own card for the account with a different number and that both of our children are grown adults. No family members names tallied which I could have predicted. I do occasionally buy from Amazon but always use a credit card rather than our debit card. They have referred me back to the bank to instigate refunds on the debits.

Looks like my card has been skimmed so I will cancel both and ask for replacements. :furious3:

Sorry to hear your cards were compromised Ian. The bank's attitude sounds lax to say the least! I hope you get a full refund.
My attention is held today by the fact that my grand daughter Yiota is due to deliver us a new great granddaughter any minute now.

It was just my card for our joint account. I have cancelled it and asked for a new one. Still on with it with the bank, cant do what I want online (multiple disputes) and the last time I rang I was in a queue for 10 minutes so that was when I tried online, will ring again If I can get through before they close after I have been to vote.
