Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Yesterday I got more sprouts from the Co-op and added them to the veggies in the fridge. I love sprouts! (Good job as they are a perfect food for diabetics)

I started and finished the day with chicken and veggies but for dinner I gave in to a yen for smoked bacon, eggs and baked beans.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Out with friends to the Four Elephants for tea today, should be a good social occasion and a catch up. And, of course, good curry

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Had curry last night, Labour Party Curry Night for members past and present and supporters. Bosoms room was rammed. Curry was a mixture of vegetarian options only as a majority of those present are veggies. Tasty anyway and very well attended. Nice to catch up with a few other ex members.
Enjoy yours at the Elephants Kev, not been to the venue for a while.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I noticed last week that in Aldi -the price of beef has increased, and substitutes are being sought even for the pies. I never saw Cheese and Onion Cornish pasties before. Confirmation came today
No meat pies
Thankfully chicken and pork are still affordable.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
For a long time now beef has been too expensive for me. Susan was asking me the other day what I wanted to do to celebrate being ninety. I said how about going to the Tempest and having a steak....
On the wider subject of food prices. Last year I was doing my doom-sayer bit about the possibility of food rationing if the present attitude to neglecting farmers and relying on food imports continued. What you have noted David is food rationing being implemented. It's being done by price.
Another aspect of this I have noted is that Ramen is being sold as an exotic food. It was always seen as the cheapest food available, Ramen Noodles is Japanese Poor Folks food..... I noted last week that Ramen Stock is on the same shelf as Garlic Paste and Kimchi in the Co-op.

Settling into the new batch of chicken and veggies. I improved the shining hour by cooking an extender of savoury cabbage and onion.

Chicken and veggies X three and I cheated by adding some hot smoked salmon to dinner and tea after finding it on sell-by date reduction in the Co-op.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Chicken and veggies for breakfast. I called in at the Cathedral of choice for a couple of cupboard fillers and saw a prime rib steak at half price, £3.80. I can't remember when I tasted beef last and so I bought it. I cooked steak and onions in a casserole and after adding veggies I had three meals so Iit wasn't too expensive. I had steak onions and veggies for dinner and tea and really enjoyed the change.

Pasta for tea today at Fabello's in Foulridge. Current chef is Giovanni as Fabio is no longer there, the menus show Vanni'sso perhaps a name change is on the way. Needless to say the food was very good.
