Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon settled down into heavily overcast but dry and this was the case into the hours of darkness. First thing it was calm, mild, dry and overcast. The glass was up on 997mb and the forecast was for heavy overcast and light rain until midday, then a short brighter spell before reversion to heavy overcast and light rain as we go into the evening. The south easterly winds will be light and we can expect a high of 9C and a low of 5C tonight with a light wind chill of -2C all day. The next six days is forecast to be very similar, mild, overcast and a chance of light showers. Very kind weather!

We have a few clouds and sunning, no breeze and quite mild. A pleasant day in the offing.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon became quite bright and was quite pleasant. We have had a quiet dry night and at the moment we have a breezy morning under heavy overcast but at the moment it is dry. The glass is steady on 990mb. The forecast is for an overcast day with light rain starting in the next hour or so. The steady easterly winds will be moderate all day and we can expect a high of 6C and a low of 5C tonight with a wind chill of -4C for most of the day. Tomorrow will be a wetter day and the rest of the week will be more variable but on the whole cooler and drier.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I drink a lot of water Cathy, all of it straight from the tap. Our water in Barlick is mainly off sandstone and so is soft and of course at this timer of the year, very cold. It struck me this morning how nice it would taste if you could get it straight from the tap when it is 35C+

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday stuck to the hymn sheet. The afternoon was almost bright, certainly acceptable. We have had a dry night and this morning we are dry under a breezy overcast even though the Met Office thinks it is raining. The glass has fallen overnight to 976mb and the forecast is for an overcast day of heavy rain. The constant east wind will be light to moderated and we can expect a high of 7C, a low of 3C tonight and a -3C wind chill until dawn and -2C thereafter. Tomorrow will also be wet but cooler and the rest of the week is a mixture of showers and sunny spells with varying temperatures.....(Saturday will be sunny!

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
It started raining just after tea yesterday and hasn’t stopped since, not heavy thank goodness, but rain all the same. No wind so it won’t move on with any speed.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was exactly like the rest of the day. Heavy overcast, a moderate breeze and light rain. This continued into the evening and overnight. This morning it is the same. The glass has fallen to 972mb and the forecast is essentially the same as yesterday but with the addition of a yellow warning of possible snow and ice form 19:00 onwards. The constant NE wind will be moderate and we can expect a high of 4C and a low tonight of 0C with a wind chill of -4C from 09:00 onwards. The perceived temperature will be freezing all day so wrap up well if you are going out. Tomorrow and Sunday will be heavily overcast with the chance of snow. Saturday gives us some respite as it is forecast to be sunny but cold.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon was mainly overcast with light rain..... Occasionally it was just overcast and damp! This morning it's overcast and damp, no sign of the possible snow the yellow weather warning talked about, it remains in force until noon. The glass is higher on 986mb and the forecast is for an overcast day with the possibility of snow until 15:00. The constant ENE wind is moderate and gusts to over 30mph. We can expect a high of 3C and a l.ow of -4C tonight with a wind chill of as much as -6C at times. The effect of this is that it will feel like below freezing all day. Tomorrow will be a similar temperature but clear and sunny, the rest of the week ahead will be warmer and mixed with more overcast and light showers.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Very light snow is falling so technically the yellow warning is accurate.... But it is very light and no danger at the moment.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday we had light snow for much of the afternoon but the glass was rising all the time. We settled down into a calm dry night, cold with clear skies. The glass has risen to 999mb and is still rising rapidly. The forecast is for a clear dry day but there is another yellow snow and ice warning in place from 19:00 tonight into tomorrow. The constant westerly winds will tend to the south and remain light all day. We can expect a high of 4C and a low tonight of 0C with a wind chill of -4C this morning but gradually lessening throughout the day. The six-day outlook is for similar mixed overcast weather. February is a winter month!

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day with only a light breeze. We can enjoy the cold weather when it is like this! Nightfall brought a return of the overcast and a yellow warning of frost and snow effective from 21:00 last night to 10:00 this morning. At the moment we have light snow and the glass is down on 1004mb. The forecast is for snow until 07:00 and then rain from noon onwards. The southerly winds will be brisk, gusting to over 30mph and we can expect a high of 6C and a low tonight of 3C with a wind chill of -6C until mid morning. The outlook is for brighter colder weather until Friday and then warmer but cloudy and wet towards the end of the week.

Plenty of showers and thunderstorms across most of the North of Australia. West to East.
Sadly it’s the opposite for most of the rest of us, and will remain so for a while yet.
