Yesterday afternoon lived up to what the forecast promised. It was a sunny, mild afternoon with late sun right up to nightfall and then a quiet dry night with broken cloud overcast. Now we have a clear mild night with a light breeze. The glass is steady on 1020mb and the forecast is for clear skies and full sun later, another gift of a day. The light winds will be easterly until late morning when they will back into the west for the rest of the day. We can expect a high of 19C and a low tonight of 8C with a light wind chill that will never be more than -2C. The rest of the week will be slightly cooler, more cloudy but still mainly dry. Very acceptable weather!

London and the South East mini heatwave continues up to about 26deg C . not the highest April ever ( 29.4 in 1941 ) but enough to cause non aircon buses to be uncomfortable and a rapid rise in temps on the tube made travelling with any kind of numbers of passengers uncomfortable and one broke down due to communication problems. A Bus service like London is often held as some kind of perfected mantra but today grumbling sounds from at least semi diesel powered vehicles was not a great advert and the electric ones whined and made electriky smells too. After sundown the cool evening did not arrive and it has been warm outside more like late summer. A cold front by sometime Friday will bring things back to 13 but Thurs expected to be warm 23deg.

Yesterday afternoon was Spring-like and the wind chill was less noticeable than expected. We have had a very mild overcast dry night. At the moment we are calm, mild and dry under broken cloud. The glass is steady on 1018mb and the forecast is for an overcast day with showers around midday and sunny intervals later in the afternoon. The mainly SW winds start light but gradually increase to brisk this afternoon gusting to 40mph. We can expect a high of 12C and a low of 2C tonight with a wind chill that starts at -2C but by this evening could be -5C after the winds pick up. The outlook is for bright weather with similar temperatures to today and possibly a couple of colder nights.....
