Not very dramatic, but the first glimpse of the sun for a few days at sunrise.

Sorry, no snow (or frost) this morning... a grey day again.
Latest forecast shows we may have some overnight tonight (but predictions of frosty or sunny weather are downgraded daily).

Re: Bank Edge View
You might get lucky this morning Cathy.... Here's the back street this morning. Freezing hard and a light fall with more to come....
Recognise that I went out in the cold to get this pic for you! Looks as though a cat has been walking on the bonnet.....

I think some double glazing is indicated..... You could have done the hot penny trick....

Re: Bank Edge View
One positive of yesterday's foul weather was there being no temptation for me to abandon my holiday project.
Repairing this arch and painting the landing is another 15 year old job I can tick off the list...
I've just glossed the window frame. As far as I know, the timber windows are original (over 90 years old) and still in good nick. Probably a big heat loss, but I haven't the heart to rip them out.

Re: Bank Edge View
Don't rip them out, David, they are beautiful and part of the character of your lovely home. Have them secondary glazed if necessary. Love the wall colour.

Re: Bank Edge View
China is right. Susan has a similar window and I suggested they put a secondary window on the outside. Complete success and no alteration to the effect inside.

Re: Bank Edge View
There is a single pane of secondary glazing on the outside that mum and dad had installed. (We removed the pane where the opener is when using the window to get RSJ and new joists into the house when we did the structural work). The outside glass does keep the weather off the leaded lights, but doesn't do anything for the insulation value.

Re: Bank Edge View
It was a cold day and the frost never lifted. The Met Office consistently underestimates how much cooler Barlick is than the surrounding area. Big change started today, we are in for some wet and stormy weather....

Sunlight on Barlick this morning, as the sun peeped through a gap in the clouds.
The slither of Pendle that we can see from our house is visible beyond Weets.
